Your tasks

  • The Applications Manager will supervise the Applications Engineers – Milling and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these individuals. The Applications Manager will carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees: planning, assigning and directing work: appraising performance: rewarding and discipling employees: addressing complaints and resolving problems in accordance with Company policy and applicable laws.
  • Evaluate, plan and oversee all Milling related applications projects, including feasibility of RFQ’s turnkey systems, time studies, test cuts and demonstrations.
  • Complete test cuts and time studies to analyze the ability of the machine’s performance: identify ways to reduce test cut deficiencies.
  • Coordinate new installations and de-installations of machines on the competence centers.
  • Oversee presale demonstrations and support trade shows and open houses, including procurement of equipment, set-up, demonstration and discussion with potential customers.
  • Ensure effective and knowledgeable technical applications phone support is provided to customers, identify any areas for improvement and decide the best and most efficient course of action for any requested involvement.
  • Develop and conduct dealer, customer, and staff training programs on the safe and effective operation of the machines and equipment.
  • Produce and distribute technical applications documentation to the dealers, customers and staff.
  • Maintain a professional appearance of the demonstration centers including all fixtures, machines and equipment. Make recommendations for necessary demo center machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions to improve efficiency, performance, reliability, staffing, training and quality of the Applications Department.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Milling Applications Engineers and Director of Applications. Communicate new programs and information between applications and various departments within the organization.
  • Monitor overhead, including travel expenses, to align with budget and accurately complete all reports in a timely manner as per the Applications Department procedures.
  • Liaison with the Sales Management team and respond timely to any requests for applications support.
  • Complete special projects as requested by the Director of Applications.
  • Miscellaneous duties, as assigned.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four year college or university and three to five years of experience in high speed milling and tool making/precision manufacturing: or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated applications management experience.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Great Plains or similar) preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word. CAD/CAM Programming experience, knowledge of Great Plains or similar software program helpful.
