Senior Network Engineer

General As Senior Network Engineer, you play a key role in providing secure, stable and scalable network services that support Rieter’s global business needs. Together with the team, you are responsible for the design, implementation, operation and support of internally managed network services. You collaborate closely with colleagues across Rieter as well as with external partners.

Your Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Design, build and operate the global network infrastructure, central network services and network security solutions
  • Develop, operate and monitor the global data center network infrastructure
  • Provide second- and third-level support for network infrastructure and services
  • Analyze internal customer requirements and develop secure, scalable network solutions
  • Ensure compliance with global architecture, configuration and security standards
  • Continuously improve the design, performance and reliability of existing network environments
  • Lead and contribute to network projects, including infrastructure and service lifecycle activities, cloud connectivity and network security
  • Support and guide apprentices in the networking area

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or HF in Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related Engineering field or a technical training program
  • Seven or more years of professional IT experience
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with IT Network technologies
  • Demonstrated experience in managing Huawei and Cisco LAN and WLAN components
  • In-depth knowledge of ISP and data centre environments (routing, switching, MPLS, BGP, load balancers)
  • Very good knowledge of the Windows operating system, security and networking (DNS, DHCP, IP)
  • Solid knowledge of IT security, with a focus on firewalls and VPNs
  • Many years of experience in network monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Very good oral and written English skills
  • Strong communication skills in an international environment
