As a Device Farm Engineer Intern, you will help build and maintain the interoperability verification lab used to test connected insulin delivery systems.
You will work with a diverse device farm comprising Android and iOS smartphones, medical devices and other connected components. Your responsibilities will include automating laboratory workflows, improving test execution efficiency and supporting the integration of Agentic AI into our verification processes.
Your work will directly contribute to the development and verification of interoperable medical devices that support people with diabetes in their daily lives.

Your main tasks
- Support the setup, maintenance and continuous improvement of the interoperability verification lab
- Manage and organise a diverse device farm, including Android and iOS devices and connected medical devices
- Prepare and configure devices for interoperability and system-level testing
- Automate laboratory workflows and repetitive test activities using Python and other suitable tools
- Support test execution, monitoring, data collection and result analysis
- Investigate device connectivity, configuration and interoperability issues
- Improve the reliability, efficiency and repeatability of the test environment
- Work with tools such as Appium, ADB and mobile or embedded device automation frameworks
- Support the integration of Agentic AI and LLM-based tools into test orchestration and verification workflows
- Explore how AI agents can support device control, test coordination, failure analysis and reporting
- Collaborate with software developers, test engineers and system engineers
- Maintain documentation for devices, laboratory processes, test setups and automation scripts
- Contribute to additional verification and engineering activities within the Project
Your profile
- Currently studying or recently graduated in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline
- Basic programming knowledge, preferably with Python
- Practical curiosity about mobile devices, embedded systems, connected products or laboratory automation
- Interest in interoperability testing and system-level verification
- Interest in working with Android and iOS devices
- Familiarity with Appium, ADB, mobile automation or similar tools is an advantage, but not required
- Interest in AI tooling, LLM-based agents and automated test orchestration
- Structured and hands-on approach to troubleshooting
- Ability to work carefully with hardware, software and technical test setups
- Willingness to learn new technologies and tools
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within an engineering team
- Very good command of English; German is an advantage
