Staff UX/Human Factor Engineer

The UX/Human Factor Engineer, Staff is responsible for creating the design and redesign of products within the ZEISS portfolio to deliver the corporate brand promise of enabling doctors to ”see beyond to realize their ambitions”. As part of the global team of product managers, technical leads and engineers, the UX/ Human Factors Engineer, Staff designs user interactions, develops design specifications and leads the design validation process.

We are looking for people who are keen to try something new:

  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert on usability and human factors engineering to support multi-disciplinary teams in their contributions to an excellent user experience for Zeiss products and platforms.
  • Lead and drive the design of new products, as well as new features and enhancements for ZEISS diagnostic products.
  • Develop User Experience specifications for platforms and products to support definition and implementation of user needs from Product Management.
  • Lead an iterative process of formative testing and heuristic analysis using mockups and prototypes to create designs that meet the needs of multiple stakeholders
  • Work directly with customers, product management, clinical subject matter experts and hardware and software engineers to design solutions that balance cost, schedule and customer benefit priorities.
  • Create validation plans and lead design validation activities for product releases
  • Participate in the development of workflow and risk documentation
  • Conduct user research to help guide product roadmaps as the voice of the customer

You are:

  • Minimum Masters level degree in cognitive psychology, human-computer interaction, industrial design or a related field required. A Ph.D. degree in Psychology or related discipline would be desirable
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in user experience design and research. Medical application experience preferred
  • A demonstrated understanding of all phases of UX research, design and development, and the ability to design unrivaled systems that solve hard problems with elegant interaction solutions
  • Demonstrated UI/UX design skills with a solid portfolio
  • Strong affinity to the healthcare domain and to medical devices software
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Axure, Adobe XD, Figma or similar.
  • Ability to analyze user workflows and design around efficiency and effectiveness pain points.
  • Advanced communications (written and verbal), negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and work in rapidly changing environment
  • Knowledge of project planning and execution
