Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

· Following established protocols and under general direction, provide the full range of installation services, preventive and corrective maintenance, on the assigned set of systems manufactured by Carl Zeiss including, but not limited to, operational, maintenance, and basic applications needs at customers’ locations within the established territory.
· Following prescribed procedures, correctly order and obtains spare parts and expedite the return of any defective materials as may be required. Complete Service Orders documenting problem, resolution, time used, and materials used.
· Liaise and schedule assigned service activities with the customer and Central Dispatch and ensure the Carl Zeiss sales representative is kept aware as required.
· Serves as the Carl Zeiss customer interface for all service matters, including coordinating any service sub‐contractor activity as may be required.
· Timely completion of all necessary forms and reports in support of department and company data collection efforts such as but not limited to, expense reports, service reports, quality reports, etc.
· Regular overnight travel within the established territory as required.
· Travel for factory training purposes outside Canada.
· Provide technical assistance to the Service Coordinator and other reps for customer inquiries.
· Properly care for all Carl Zeiss tools and assets as may be made available during the execution of assigned responsibilities.
· Respect, live, and share with internal and external customers, the Carl Zeiss values.
· Other duties as required.

Experience and Education Requirements:

· BS / Technologist Diploma in technical/scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
· Experience in microscopy is preferred
· Advanced ability to use computer applications including Word, Excel, Outlook. Working knowledge of SAP / CRM would be an asset
· Expert level knowledge of Windows software and architecture.
· Ability to read and understand engineering documentation (Mechanical, Electrical, and Automation).
· Ability to repair electrical and mechanical equipment as designated by the Service Manager
· Must be able to comprehend and conform to the requirements of working in restricted / regulated laboratory spaces.
· Ability to understand the operation of complex equipment
· Excellent interpersonal skills with customers and fellow employees
· Superior communication skills, written and verbal
· Must be able to work successfully as an individual contributor or as part of a team
· Clean driving record
· Valid passport and no restrictions on travel

Working Conditions and Special Demands:
· Willingness to travel efficiently (by air or ground) to reach customer site in a timely manner, including the ability to drive long distances by car
· Capable of lifting in a safe manner to avoid injury
· Able to care for and carry tools bags, parts, and test equipment
· Comfortable climbing a ladder
· Ability to work in Laboratories, Hospital Operating Rooms, and other clinical or scientific
· Environments or industry laboratories
· Willing to work extended hours to meet deadlines
· Ability to work with little or no direct supervision
· Ability to work under pressure
