The Application Engineer assists our customers with understanding and applying our hardware and software systems. This support is provided in a variety of ways, including formal and custom training classes, telephone and on-site support, programming and measurement services. This important consultative role requires professional conduct and customer orientation at all times.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond to all customer related software/applications support questions.
  • Ability to quickly assess a problem/or customer issue and the impact to the customer - understand and react to the urgency of the situation.
  • Respond to any Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology department requiring software/applications support.
  • Aid with software & system testing in support of product development.
  • File accurate software performance reports.
  • Provide technical after-sales support for customers to help insure successful use of our system.
  • Respond to customer request for quotation which typically includes analyzing inspection requirements and quoting part programming costs
  • Estimate anticipated Gage R&R results
  • On-site implementation of quoted application items

Experience and Education Requirements

  • A four-year degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics is required.
  • Able to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Understanding of 3D mathematics and computer programming techniques in any of the modern scientific computer languages
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and be comfortable presenting technical information to small or large audiences
  • Willing to travel approximately 50% to 75% of the time
