The XRM Life Sciences Marketing Manager (LSMM) develops and defines the ZEISS X-Ray Microscopy (XRM) customer solution strategies and strategic priorities (where to play, what to do, what not to do) that drive growth in existing and new Life Science markets. The LSMM identifies important Life Science markets/customers, key problems that ZEISS XRM products and technologies have an opportunity to solve better than alternative methods, and drives developing both new product innovation roadmaps and existing product positioning strategies.

A key responsibility is prioritizing many possible product development and sales/marketing activities relative to overall business impact utilizing a combination of deep applications knowledge, customer inquiry, and quantitative market opportunity analysis. Must have exceptionally strong opportunity cost mindset in order to identify the best profit and growth opportunities in such a broad and diverse market. Successful LSMM must also have very strong grasp of marketing and market/product development fundamentals including business model canvas, key value proposition, market sizing, product adoption curves, business modeling, SWOT analysis/red teams, in order to weigh options in an objective and organized manner.

A successful LSMM will use a combination of strategic vision and data-centric decision making to successfully define, position, evangelize, support, improve, and grow the business of XRM products into Life Science markets. Finally, the LSMM will have strong experience and skills in product life cycle management, and project management, to assist in implementing projects across the organization.

The XRM Life Science Marketing Manager will lead in the following activities:
• Driving XRM business success while understanding and mitigating program risks
• Developing relationships with key academic/industrial thought leaders to scout, develop, refine and validate roadmap and positioning strategies
• Developing the roadmap, business-case, and feasibility to serve the needs of Life Science community and to position for success against the competition
• Developing, organizing, and managing relative value estimation of potential R&D programs in innovation funnel relative to Life Science customers/markets
• Working strategically with key account managers to address evolving needs and to support strategic business development opportunities as well as implementation of product positioning strategy
• Defining and documenting market and product requirements, including upgradeability, reliability and regulatory
• Owning the product life cycle execution while influencing involvement of diverse functional groups
• Defining and driving timely product launch plans involving multiple functional groups, with an eye to positioning, branding, and pricing. Evangelizing new products within the company.
• Working with 3rd party vendors to develop relationships, define requirements, drive development programs, and productize new capabilities to enhance ZEISS solutions

You are:

Strong technical background required (Master’s degree in technical field, minimum). Additionally, MBA marketing experience preferred.

• Previous experience in Solutions or Product Marketing role in Life Science microscopy industry preferred.
• Existing relationships with key Life Science thought leaders or organizations preferred.
• Experience with microscopy research industry (5+ years) and/or capital equipment.
• Experience with computed tomography and/or X-ray imaging and/or 3D visualization techniques in microscopy, preferred.

Skills and languages :

• Excellent market development skills and experience. Analytical markets sizing and customer value based pipeline prioritization experience preferred.
• Excellent project management skills and experience. Agile development experience preferred.
• Superior written and oral communication skills and the ability to comprehend and translate complex concepts and technologies into business-oriented value propositions
• Ability to influence collaboratively with cross-functional business partners
• Strong initiative and follow-through skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects, establish and align priorities, and make good decisions even in the absence of some desired information
• Demonstrated ability to work in rapidly changing and less-than-well-defined environments with strong team alignment skills
• Enthusiastic, diligent, curious, and highly productive; high integrity and trust required
• Results oriented
• Willingness to travel up to 50%
