The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for providing assistance and oversight to constituent Carl Zeiss business units to ensure compliance with all U.S. Customs, Bureau of Industry and Security, OFAC, DDTC and other government agency regulations as they relate to import and export operations. This position will work closely with various business units (BU’s), reporting to the Director of Trade Compliance, Americas to improve compliance and assist with implementing best business practices.

We are looking for people who are keen to try something new:

  • Support the global trade compliance program
  • Lead and assist BU’s with daily trade related import/export processes: Classifications, HTSUS, ECCN. Rulings, Recordkeeping, Duty Drawback, Export Licenses, Sanctions, embargoes, Denied Party screening and other export control restrictions
  • Work with cross functional teams to review compliance requirements of imported and exported products
  • Ensure compliance with all US government agencies relating to import & export trade
  • Assist with maintenance of import/export programs including: Contact with Government agencies, Contact with service providers, ACE oversight and guidance, Continuous improvement, Maintain current relevant knowledge of US Trade policy
  • Assist DTC with compliance audits and reviews
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

You are:

  • Bachelor degree in Business or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Three to five years of experience in Customs Compliance & on hands-on knowledge of International Trade and Export Regulations including; EAR, ITAR, FTA Programs, FDA, SNAP-R, C-TPAT, ACE, ISA
  • Ability to work in a team environment and work independently
  • SAP experience a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Personal computer proficiency (strong excel & access preferred, MS Office)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a multi-cultural environment
