The Digital Partners service unit based in Munich, Oberkochen and Jena is realizing cutting-edge customer-centric digital solutions jointly with the ZEISS business units. For our Munich location we are seeking an:

The principles of Free Software and Open Source (FOSS) are your passion while you clearly understand its use case within the corporate world? You are opposed to inefficient workflows and glue code is your solution? You know how to read documentation and are not fully reliant on Stackoverflow? After your internship you are interested to continue as working student?

Your role at ZEISS Digital Partners

You will support our FOSS compliance efforts and work closely with the Corporate Open Source Officer. The focus of your internship will be to evaluate, integrate and work with software composition analysis tools and thereby help to lift the ZEISS FOSS compliance toolchain to the next level. You will evolve existing and define new concepts and workflows whilst gaining comprehensive insights into the strategic and technical approach to maximizing the benefits and minimizing the risks of having Open Source at the heart of our software.

Your profile :

  • Your background is in computer science, software engineering, or information systems
  • You successfully completed at least 3 years of study and gained first (internship) experience in the corporate or startup world
  • You have knowledge of and first experiences in scripting (bash, zsh), common markup/data interchange formats (e.g. XML, JSON), at least one higher programming language (e.g. Java), and object-oriented programming in general.
  • You are able to [remotely] work in an independent, goal- and output-oriented manner and a “can do” attitude
  • Strong communication skills to convincingly navigate within corporate and multi-cultural environments
  • Fluent in English, German can be useful though not required
