Research Engineer is responsible for developing fast prototypes, demos by implementing ideas using state-of-the-art Deep-learning (DL) and / or Machine Learning (ML) framework applied on Medical Images with minimal guidance. The role demands hands on experience in coding mainly in Python and sometimes in C++ to develop such solutions rapidly. He/she would be responsible for the delivery of his/her modules (such as developed ML or DL models), in time so the same can be consumed by the Software team for further integration. The person should be able to work with cross functional internal teams such as clinical, software development, product management, and international ZEISS colleagues to support global project delivery.
  • Responsible for developing and dealing with Deep-learning, Machine learning, Image processing and Computer Vision based algorithms and solutions / applications catering to the needs of organization.
  • Responsible for preparing fast prototypes / Proof-of-concept (POC) and demos and present the same to the high-profile visitors, customers.
  • Co-work with international teams consisting of research engineers from other locations to co-develop an algorithm / solution.
  • Visit customers understand their requirements, and then help / work with development team to accomplish the required changes or modification needed in the product / tool’s features.
  • Co-work with customer’s research assistant / Optometrist for data collection activity to execute collaborative project(s).
  • Filing patents in India, Germany/Europe and USA, and write quality research articles aiming for publication to national and international conferences and journals. This will be highly encouraged.
  • Co-work with a student collaborator(s), faculty member for executing an academic collaboration.
  • Help Research lead / Head of research to prepare slides, materials, and ideate on new problem/idea or the function’s strategy and future scopes.
  • Propose new ideas within the purview of the organization’s vision and develop quick prototype for the same to showcase the idea.

You are:

B.E/B.Tech with 5-6+ or M.E/M.Tech with 3-4+ or Ph. D with 0-1 years of industrial experience in Computer Science/IT, Electrical/Electronic, Engineering with a specialization / done projects in Image processing, Computer Vision and Machine Learning is must.
  • Experience in developing image processing and computer vision algorithms and solutions using Open CV is must.
  • Expertise in ML-framework like TensorFlow, Keras for developing deep learning-based algorithm is a must.
  • Expertise coding in Python and C++ and tools like Advanced Excel is a must.
  • Knowledge in handling Python libraries such as Numpy, Scipy, Matplotlib, and Scikit-learn, etc. is a must.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are must.
  • Knowledge in programming languages like C/JAVA, etc. is desirable.
  • Strong problem solving, Debugging, Root-cause analysis, are highly desirable -
  • Medical domain experience is desired but not required.
  • Publication record in high profile peer-reviewed journals and conferences is desired
  • Ability to work with in-house cross functional (teams such as clinical, program / SW development and product management) and international teams (teams with similar expertise).
  • Conceptualize, think, implement and sometime execute (in a rare occasion) a task with minimal guidance
