Software Architect (m/f/x)

Munich

Step out of your comfort zone, excel and redefine the limits of what is possible. That’s just what our employees are doing every single day – in order to set the pace through our innovations and enable outstanding achievements. After all, behind every successful company are many great fascinating people.

What you will do:

At Zeiss, we build the best microscopes in the world. As a Software Architect, it is your job to make sure our software lives up to that expectation.
You bring clarity into the business requirements, and map them into solutions that can be implemented. As a senior figure in the R&D process, you are responsible for the technical realization of a strategic area. This means you need to understand the needs of our customers, but also of our development colleagues in five different countries.
You will be working in a team of architects, product managers, developers, and testers. You will develop, update, and guard the architecture, and help to manage life cycles of components and products. You will review designs and implementations, and help on testing strategies.

What we look for:

  • Vast experience as Architect or Lead Developer for complex software systems.
  • Proof that you can take the helicopter view, but also dive into details
  • Someone enjoying working with larger, as well as distributed teams, including technical leadership of such.
  • The ability to work in interdisciplinary teams (hardware, software, testing, product managers).
  • Experience in interfacing with multiple stake holders and understand their needs (e.g. marketing, sales, service)
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork mentality
  • A convincing attitude towards the product definition and the implementation teams
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft development toolchain, including .NET, WPF and C#.
  • Experience with distributed applications
  • Fluency in English, good knowledge of German
