As the Compensation Analyst you will be responsible for the research, analysis and preparation of compensation related data in support of compensation programs that achieve internal equity, external competitiveness, and legal compliance. You will act as a business partner and consultant for the Head of HR, HR Business Partner and Senior Management Team members. You will administer compensation plans and programs, including base and variable pay and employee recognition. You will be responsible for compensation-related data maintenance in HRIS and reporting. Working closely with the Head of HR and the Head of Compensation & Benefits, you will implement and communicate compensation policies and practices and make recommendations. In this position you will work closely with the Global Functional Team Compensation, Benefits & Labour Relations.

Your job

  • Job Analysis and Evaluation: Audits jobs for content and prepares job descriptions reflecting job responsibilities, activities, duties and requirements. Evaluates data in order to determine compensation rates, determine FLSA exemptions, and level positions to established pay grades. Participates in compensation surveys to collect and analyze competitive salary information to determine company's competitive position. Analyzes and reports results that support compensation planning and program development to ensure base pay structures and programs are externally competitive.
  • Compensation Administration: Assists with preparation and management of the annual review salary increase process. Gathers current market pay data, determines compa-ratios, updates merit matrix, and prepares salary planning information for management using the HRIS tool. Evaluates promotion requests and makes compensation recommendations. Assists Head of HR with analysis of salary increase recommendations and preparation of reporting against budget for presentation to the Comp Committee. Analyzes and reports market salary survey results that support compensation planning and program development to ensure base pay structures and programs are externally competitive.
  • Variable Pay & Recognition Program Administration: Assists Head of Compensation & Benefits in reviewing, maintaining and administering variable compensation programs and processes. Reviews monthly, quarterly and annual commission and variable payments. Assists with preparation and management of the annual MBO process. Prepares spreadsheet of eligible participants, calculates payout, prepares reporting for comp committee, prepares employee communications, and coordinates payment with Payroll. Assists with administration of Sales compensation and other incentive plans. Updates and distributes plan documents, reviews and processes incentive plan payments. Administers Recognition Program guidelines, reviews and processes recognition award requests, assists management with questions and issues.
  • Data and Reporting: Creates analytical reports, generates and distributes compensation data on ongoing and ad hoc basis. Works with HRIS Analyst to ensure Workday HCM meets compensation needs. Creates all compensation setup data in HRMS tool including grades, pay structures, elements, programs, plans and rules. Periodically reviews and ensures compensation-related data integrity in HRIS.

Our requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or similar with a focus on human resources management.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the analysis, design and/or administration of compensation programs including: job documentation and job analysis, salary survey participation and use, analysis of pay components and calculations, and sales/incentive compensation is required. CCP preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of wage and hour and compensation-related federal and state, specific emphasis on California labor law and HR best practices.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills, particularly Excel. Experience using an HRIS, preferably Workday.
  • Strong data analysis, interpretation and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work with highly confidential material.
  • Excellent business writing skills, strong verbal communication / presentation skills. Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, solid analytical/problem solving skills, and strong follow-through.
