The Senior Applications Engineer has overall responsibility of leading technical developments and complex project work while mentoring junior engineers on projects within the process control & inspection group. They interact with customers and the project team regarding demonstrations, requirements documentation, and solution development from the initial feasibility through final system acceptance. They overcome obstacles and complete tasks in projects by seamlessly collaborating with the hardware and software development teams. They must leverage previous experience to solve complex engineering problems and implement new processes within the group to advance the overall performance of the team.

We are looking for people who are keen to try something new:

  • Complete advanced system feasibility studies and presentation of results to potential customers when novel designs and/or new concepts need to be employed
  • Demonstrate system technology and capabilities at conferences, trade shows and customer meetings
  • Develop applications requirements to meet external and internal customer needs
  • Work with data scientist to understand patterns in data and images and identify strategy for SurfMax algorithm development/qualification
  • Propose new developments based on current team inefficiencies and new possible technical advancements
  • Drive deep technical interactions with hardware and software development teams Develop and employ custom scripts to modify and process data when needed

You are:

  • BS/BA, MS, or PhD in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics or equivalent
  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Preferred background in optics/imaging, X-ray/CT, image processing, mechanical design, manufacturing & assembly and/or computer programming.
  • Demonstrated skillset in CAD assemblies and drawings, advanced hardware & software troubleshooting, opto-mechanical design, control system design and debugging, image processing & algorithm development, opto-mechanical design, robust documentation procedures & design risk assessment/mitigation.
  • Acquired skillset in programming of Matlab, Python, C/C++, C# or JAVA with ability to create custom scripts for various applications when needed.
  • Resident expert in the application of in-house surface defect detection technologies and competitive systems
