Your tasks
- The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing records required for outgoing shipments and reviewing outgoing shipment schedules to maintain productive operations.
- Prepares bills of lading or shipping documents for each shipment.
- Checks and records all items loaded for shipment.
- Posts shipments to customer orders and calculates outstanding shipping balance.
- Closes out orders and forwards documents to production planning and accounting departments once shipments are completed.
- Notifies supervisor or planning department when major discrepancies occur, such as over-shipments or substitutions.
- Maintains other shipping records, such as goods returned, returnable pallets, dunnage, etc.
- Collects information for damage claims on in-transit damage.
- Generates and prepares customs export documents for international shipments.
- Coordinates multiple shipping container live loads.
- Other duties as assigned.
Your profile
- Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous warehouse operations experience.
- One (1) to two (2) years of Shipping experience preferred.
- International and/or export shipping experience advantageous.
- Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
- Exposure to machine noise.
- Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production and warehouse area.
- Working conditions are normal for a high volume manufacturing environment.
- Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 65 pounds and working in and around heavy equipment.
- Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and work boots.
- This role may require walking in a non-climate controlled manufacturing environment.
