Your tasks

- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against Bills of Lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Pulls material from stock.
- Lifts and moves heavy items/packages as required.
- Uses a computer as needed to generate a packing slip.
- Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons, bundles and /or skids.
- Assemble wooden, cardboard or skidded containers or selects preassembled containers.
- Assembles skids or containers.
- Binds containers with metal strapping or tape as needed.
- Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Routes items to departments.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
- Operates lift truck or uses hand truck to move or hoist materials from inventory to shipping area and load trucks or containers per shipping instructions.
- Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
- Maintain a busy loading dock in good order, including all necessary labels, equipment, materials and supplies.
- Select appropriate carriers/truckers to fill needs, both domestic and international and complete necessary shipping documentation.
Your profile

- High school diploma/GED
- 1-2 years’ experience in shipping/warehousing
- Experience in a manufacturing setting a plus.
- Excellent verbal, writing, and electronic communication skills.
- Ability to learn technical terms, processes, and piping design vocabulary.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to pick up, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk and hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
