  • Worksite flexibility within Georg Fischer locations
  • The Lead Buyer will manage operational and tactical purchasing activities and relationships for ensuring raw materials are sourced to meet critical production schedules to satisfy customer demand and business requirements. This individual will have multi-site purchasing responsibility for raw material procurement for the Easton, PA, Bakersfield, CA and Little Rock, AR plants across multiple production lines and value streams. This role will also act as local liaison for the regional global procurement organization of GF.
  • While each day brings new opportunities, your core responsibilities will be:
  • Review MRP procurement messages to understand material needs driven by the production plan and inventory strategies
  • Compare material needs to current and expected inventories and make decisions regarding purchasing volumes
  • Create purchase orders and route for approvals as necessary. Monitor and track outstanding purchase orders to ensure timely receipt of products.
  • Analyze purchasing data, supplier performance levels, purchase history, and cost trends
  • Generate reports to leadership to support decision making processes
  • Collaborate with the Production Scheduling, Manufacturing, and Sourcing and others to enable accurate forecasting, accurate inventory levels and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain and verify accurate records, including purchase orders, supplier information, contracts, part number description and coordinate drawings.
  • Follow up with suppliers to obtain confirmation on pricing, delivery, and ensure technical understanding and capability
  • Participate in projects related to purchasing and inventory control to include process improvements, cost reduction initiatives, or system implementation projects
  • Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department and organization
  • Creating Purchase Orders in ERP system for vendors, ensuring proper information flow into PowerBI. Continuous follow up on open orders for accuracy and need.
  • Delivers on savings and inventory requirements as per the commodity and business strategies.
  • Confirm Purchase Order acknowledgments and verify accuracy of PO details.
  • Work cross-functionally and with AP and suppliers on payment issue resolution.
  • Resolve supplier discrepancies (quantities, paperwork and other) by closely working with the Operations/QA department.
  • Leads aspects of strategic sourcing, which may include, Statement of Work (SOW) and Request for Proposal (RFP) preparation, proposal evaluation, price/cost analysis, contract negotiation, vendor management, and contract administration.
  • Oversees and/or conducts supplier site visits as necessary.
  • Assist with ERP system optimization, to produce the appropriate inputs into PowerBI.
  • Track Vendor delivery performance/expedited freight occurrences
  • Resolve invoicing/receipt issues between suppliers and Accounting
  • Monitor days on hand reporting for all sites to identify shortage or excess inventories levels
  • Monitor MRP action messages to ensure erroneous data has been removed
  • Executes decisions that are consistent with meeting organizational financial goals.

Your profile

Profile
  • Required Experience:
  • At least 5 years of direct material purchasing experience within a manufacturing or industrial role
  • Understand total cost concept including material labor, overhead, quality and transportation.
  • Kanban, Consignment or other inventory control programs.
  • Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, inventory control, and supply chain principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), particularly Excel for data analytics
  • Proficiency in using purchasing software and enterprise resources planning (ERP) systems ( JDE or MAPICS is plus)
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, including manufacturing, with a professional demeanor
  • Understanding of inventory control techniques and knowledge of implications of BOM accuracy, inventory accuracy, and material transactions/movement within the factory.
  • Conflict resolution abilities to address issues with a positive attitude
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data driven decisions
  • Detailed oriented approach, ensuring accuracy and completeness in data entry and reporting
  • Self-directed and organized, exhibiting strong initiative, and the ability to prioritize and execute multiple priorities in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Education & Certifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain Management or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • APICS Certified preferred
  • Travel & Working Environment:
  • Office environment with occasional work in a plant/manufacturing environment Minimal travel (<10%) that includes visits to other facilities, vendors and training.
  • Manufacturing Environment require use of foot, eye and ear protection when in production areas.
