We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual for our Operations team to drive business excellence and improve performance for GF Piping Systems.

The Purchasing Specialist/Expeditor for Custom Products will be responsible for sourcing and managing parts necessary to meet the needs of the Custom Products group. As a Purchasing Specialist/Expeditor, you will be responsible for all commercial aspects of the awarding of new business, developing strong supplier relationships, and working side by side with multiple departments to ensure customer satisfaction and meet On Time Delivery (OTD) goals. This position will take the lead in making sure Georg Fischer meets cost targets, supplier delivery to our aggressive timelines and targets, and ensures that parts are of the highest quality. This role reports to the Operations Manager.

Your tasks

  • Identify potential suppliers, analyze capabilities, and develop sourcing strategy
  • Lead the strategic sourcing process by ensuring that the product is matched to the right supplier, and they are effective in delivering the product in accordance to specifications
  • Lead contractual negotiations with suppliers on Non-disclosure Agreements, General Terms & Conditions, and Production Supply Agreements
  • Actively manage supplier relationships and performance through key performance metrics, plant audits, and technical reviews
  • Develop strong partnering relationships with the Engineering, Planning, and Distribution as well as with manufacturing facilities and management
  • Lead "make versus buy" assessments to ensure timely and effective decisions early in the design process based on capacity and consistent with manufacturing and sourcing strategies
  • Develop standard work and documented processes for how we select, engage, and manage suppliers
  • Deploy inventory-planning strategies to maintain and improve service levels and optimize inventory investment

Your profile

Profile
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Strong understanding of supplier engagement/management best practices
• Detailed knowledge of inventory management
• Proven ability to deliver results, effectively build relationships both internal and external, and communicate well with all organizational levels
• Ability to operate strategically while understanding the tactical implications of decisions
• Working knowledge of planning/procurement processes within an ERP environment is required, preferably SAP
• Proactive personality to be an active partner to general management, service oriented, and familiar with lean manufacturing practices
• Ability to work across all levels of the organization in both a local and multinational team environment
• Demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills to be effective in building positive relationships
• Strong negotiations, problem solving, analytical skills, and financially savvy
Education and Experience:
• A Bachelor's degree with focus in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or Engineering
• 5 years of manufacturing, supply chain, and operations
• 3 years leading and managing teams with a focus on mentoring, coaching, and performance management
• 2 years of project management experience
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
• Exhibit strong leadership and problem solving skills
