Every day, millions of people around the world come into contact with products made using Sputtering Components equipment. Our thin film technologies are used in vacuum coating systems to make windows, smartphones, display screens, solar panels, automobile components, decorative hardware and more.

Our company is seeking to hire a Director of Engineering who will be responsible for ensuring that solutions delivered to our customers have been properly designed and engineered to meet the reliability standard that has made SCI the global benchmark for rotary cathodes.

You will work within SCI Leadership Team and report to the General Manager.

Our company is seeking to hire a Director of Engineering who will be responsible for ensuring that solutions delivered to our customers have been properly designed and engineered to meet the reliability standard that has made SCI the global benchmark for rotary cathodes.

You will work within SCI Leadership Team and report to the General Manager.

  • Ensure efficient operation of the engineering department (mechanical design and automation) and on-time completion of production designs for all sales orders
  • Lead the engineering department and provide leadership and guidance to the Mechanical Design team and the Automation team
  • Provide inter-departmental support in the form of complex design detail and review for SCI new product pipeline originating from R&D
  • Provide inter-departmental support in the form of drawings, specifications and data requests for SCI sales team
  • Develop and deliver product training at SCI Agents and Distributors, OEMs, and SCI’s customers locations, as needed
  • Additional technical projects as assigned
  • 4-year engineering degree or 5+ years’ experience in the vacuum coating industry
  • 5+ years’ work experience working directly with magnetron cathodes, vacuum processes and applications
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Must have great organizational skills and be able to multi-task across products and sites
  • Proven excellent written, verbal, and presentations skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Project), Solidworks experience a plus
  • Experience with industrial controls and automation is a plus
  • Must be able to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally
