Legal and Compliance Intern

The Legal and Compliance Intern supports the US Legal and Compliance Department's efforts to ensure Medartis Inc. conducts its business in compliance with all laws and regulations that relate to the healthcare industry, in addition to professional, external, and internal standards according to accepted business practices. This position provides support to, and execution of, processes in compliance and legal at the direction of the Legal and Compliance Director.
This internship will run for the 2025-2026 school year and may be extended, and will be onsite at our Warsaw, Indiana location. Hours are flexible, with a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week.

Your responsibilities
- Development and tracking of compliance training efforts, both internal and external to the company
- Maintaining and suggesting improvements to policies and procedures to ensure compliance with external requirements including anti-kickback laws, Physician Payments Sunshine Act, HIPAA, AdvaMed Code of Ethics, SOX, discrimination/harassment, data protection, and conflicts of interest regulations
- Summarizing legislation and regulatory changes to identify potential implementation actions by the company
- Due diligence examination of professional partners in clinical research
- Assisting with compliance investigations
- Preparation of agency/distribution and consulting agreements
- Contract management
- Performance of internal compliance audits
- Preparation and filing of Open Payments program compliance data
Your qualifications
- Working toward a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree; background or interest in orthopedics, healthcare, law, or compliance
- Strong communication skills
- Strong Microsoft Office skills in Word, Excel and Outlook
